If you get a mitsu you will be up to your neck in timing belts, transfer case leaks, and broken trannies. Well maybe not.... you just take real good care of it.
Here are some cars that haven't been mentioned that I would suggest.
Z31(84-89 300zx) The turbo models can be made fast with a few simple bolt ons and a boost controller. They are dead reliable, and they are very comfortable. They handle pretty good, and they have alot of personallity.
323 GTX. They aren't easy to find.. but they are great little cars. They aren't extremely fast in stock form, but they can be made pretty quick.
Dodge omni turbo...... they are hideous, but can be made quite lethal. The fact that they are ugly adds to the charm.
SVO Mustang. Performance that rivals the TII in every aspect. From what I have gathered, they are a hair faster. Great reliablilty, easily modified, and I personally think they are good looking. Don't be the guy that dislikes it just because it is a mustang.
MR2 turbo.. why isn't this on the list?
Supercharged MR2. Very cool car.
For god sakes don't get a honda....... Well go ahead and get one if you want to do front wheel drive burnouts.

Nissan 240SX Notch back all the way. Turbo the KA24 or SR20DET swap, cant go wrong. FWD is a pain in the *** for me, but some people like it.

******* SVO MUSTANG 2.3LT!! I would get that over a damn TII if i could find one for cheap in good condition. There are so many types and styles of cars im sure you can find a car that makes you happy.

The MR2 isn't on there 'cause the All Trac is. I have problems with RWD cars in snow guys, that's why you don't see any up there. So right now I'm looking at All Trac or DSM.

Hence why I drive a rexy. Is the GS-X a turbo and 4WD? In that case a '95-'99 GSX would kick ***. I thought only the old ones came 4WD.

Um, the DSM Turbo AWD is faster than the RX-7, T2 or not, and so is the Celica All-Trac. Not to mention they're both prettier.

Its quicker, not faster. All of the cars listed are still slow, and its doubtful the guy is going to get any of them, why would he have bought a cheap rx7 to begin with if he could afford a better car

Because when I bought this I had just gotten laid off and cracked the head on my 1G Eclipse GS-T. This was nice and cheap and decently reliable with an ok performance. Now that I have a job once again I'm able to afford better.
