Afraid to say my engine's blown
:`(
Yesterday when i went to start my car to leave work, my car wouldn't start. At first she turned over okay, and then i flicked my fuel cut off switch on and she went CLUNK. Thinking of things to go wrong, she didn't flood, her starter is new (2 months) and is on right and operating correctly, and i have a new battery. The guys from work thought maybe it needed push started. So they gave me a shove and when i let go of the clutch, CLUNK! she came to a hard hault. The tires completely locked up.
So i got a ride home and grabbed some tools. I went back up to work and started messing around. Checked my oil and it was fine. I tried to move my belts and stuff, but they wouldn't budge. So i pulled the spark plugs. I was hoping maybe an emergency ATF would get it home. I stuck my finger into the holes and i found lots of oil. Then when i rubbed my fingers together it felt grainy, like a little bit of sand. I didn't have a magnet, so i couldn't tell if it was metal, i was hoping it was carbon. Oh and the spark plugs were covered in gunk, dry light brown stuff, especially the trailing plugs. So i wasn't sure what to do. So i filled her to the brim with ATF. Then i went back today. Still the same CLUNK. So i towed her home with my dad's truck.
I'm afraid to think that i need a new engine, but i must face reality. This really sucks! I don't know what to do now. Any suggestions? Or maybe other possible problems (i wish)?

Jessica :
I'm so sorry to hear that. I know how you feel. My TII motor died two weeks ago. I couldn't believe it. She was doing so well. I can't believe it's happening to me. I though, it only happens to other people. Not ME! Anyhow, i would hug you and tell you it's ok but you're in OH..... so suck it up. Maybe we could start a support group for people to share their feelings, emotions, and to know that we're not alone.

Hmm, all this wonderful outpouring of sympathy, but no helpful information. It kinda is funny that she aks what is wrong or what might be wrong or what she can do be really all she gets is replies saying how sorry they are she blew it. Good luck getting some help Jessica. I wish your car a full and speedy recovery.
P.S. No I am not a hypocrit, I just really have no clue what might be wrong beyond what she and I talked about on AIM. Those of greater knowledge must prevail.

check the electrical, you may not be getting spark. try to jump the starter with wires straight from the battery to the starter leads, if it spins, you have a winner. If you can get it to spin that way, compression test it. I know all of this is a stretch, but.... its better than ripping the whole damn engine out and finding out that it was fine, and a wire was burned to hell. Good luck and if there is anything you think i might can help you with, DrMaxit is my AIM name. Talk to Adam (Mazdaspeed07), im sure he can help you a good bit. good luck once again.

Try taking a pry bar or a large screwdriver, and run it through the bolts sticking out of the water pump pulley. If you have an electric fan this should be easy, unless you removed these bolts like I did. Now try and spin the pully. Don't jump up and down trying, just give it a lil twist. I can turn mine with one hand and no tools, but I have manual steering and no AC, and an e-fan, with the stock equipment you will need a lil more effort. If the pullies turn the the motor is not seized. If the pullies won't budge; you're **** outa luck. Hope this helps in some way.

I dunno Jes, we can keep trying the push pull thing, maybe get lucky... I was wondering if we pulled off your exhaust, manifold and all, and kinda looked into the housing.. maybe putz around with a magnet and a flashlight, see what we can see. I don't recall what the exhaust ports look like w/ the manifold off, but I think they were just straight into the housing. If DCR gets bored this week, I'll see if we can take a look at your car again, else I will.. weather allowing of course.

Jeez, rolling it backwards while it's in reverse is the same as rolling it forwards wit hthe tranny in forward gear!!
You want to rotate the engine BACKWARDS to try and dislodge it!
When it happened to me I thought it was the starter or battery too.
It sounds like carbon lock- The EXACT thing that happened to me, right down to a tee. A chunk of carbon cam dislodged, and jammed an apex seal. It may not have been so bad if I hadn't tries so hard to rotate the engine fowards! Needed to have my grooves machined out for 3mm sealc couse they wouildn't hold a 2mm one anymore.
The dealership usually has a reverse rotation starter that that use to try and unlock it- it can at aleast buy you some time.... but it sucks.... Probably time for a rebuild.

I'm sorry to say this but either one of your apex seals, corner or side seal is broken broken broken!!!!!! Stop trying to turn the engine, you will only **** up the housing. Have someone take the exhaust manifold off and have a look inside the exhaust ports to see if you can see if the rotor is scratched. Look into both ports. It might also be a stationary gear or rotor bearing. NEED TO OPEN THE ENGINE ASAP!!!!!

Same thing happend to me last September. Your engine is bad.
I soaked mine in ATF for 24 hours. After, I turned the engine backwards from the flywheel teeth with a prybar. It took a while but I eventually unseized it. The car runs but it's obvious that one of the rotors has lost compression. I haven't got around to doing a compression test though.
Whatever the case, the problem is internal. Rebuild time.

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
the engine won't die just like that, try the pull/push starting method with another car
HE would yp doing the t2 conversion quicker than he had thought.
