AFM question?

What decides how much fuel the engine gets? And how do you tell which injectors go where if you pulled them all out? My engine starts for thirty seconds and then dies out. It has sat for over 5 years. Sounds real good when it starts but I can tell it is flooding. I have put in a cut out switch but I still cant get it to stay running. I need to check the AFM and try to find out where all this fuel is coming from?

are your injectors dirty??? Also depending on what car you have sometimes they are exactly the same in primary and secondary. Go to this place http://www.rotaryresurrection.com under tech and then injector information and that should tell you everything your looking for. also have you done a compression check on the engine because alot of times rotary engines don't like to be sitting for a long period of time so number one thing to do is get a cheap *** compression tester and check the link above and he has how you can do a compression test using the piston tester on a rotary. Fairly easy. Good luck

If it runs for thirty seconds and dies, and does this time and again........either the plug is off the afm or you have a large vacuum leak.....most likely. It could be another thing all together.

Have you changed out the fuel? Fuel will go bad over time, especially after 5 years.

The AFM can have something to do with the way a car idles when warm and cold. Easy was to see if it's working/adjusted right, is to take off the air cleaner assembly so that you can move the flap by hand. You can also take off the black cover on the AFM to check and adjust it that way. Just check everything else before messing with the AFM.

got great news for everybody, I got it running today and you wont believe what it was! First some background. It has been sitting for over five years.1 or 2 times a year i go out and mess with it, (turning it over). Everytime I have had trouble w/ the fuel pump. Hard to get it primed, leaks, no pump, etc. I did suck out the fuel and replace though. R anR pump with new one. Still starts to hit but will not stay running. Today I pulled the plugs, layed them on the fender plugged in, turned over and bright blue spark. I put in some atf in each hole, about 10 drobs. Put the old plugs back in same thing. Then I put in new plugs, wt heck, i spent 125 on the pump whats another 25 on plugs. It started! I dont under stand it. I did have the timing off, blew out a 6" rats nest out of the passenger pipe, and had to adjust the lean mixture. But it is strong and runs smooth over 1k rpm. tomorrow i will do some final tinkering and take her for the first drive in over 7 years. I feel like a king!!!!
