Question AFM problem

well i have this dilemma, my 87 gxl runs rough, but when i checked my codes, it brought up the AFM. i swapped it with the one from my 88 NA, still no go, checked it on the ecu, still bringing up the same problem. Is there any other problems that are associated with the AFM coming up on the codes, and would that be any reason why my gxl is running rough fuel fowling plugs reguraly?

Have you checked for faulty wiring between the ECU and AFM?

When you say "checked it on the ECU", you watched the sucker on a meter while driving? Got the 4v key on? About 3v at idle?
