ON afm problem

hi all, 87 t2 with rtek 2. My issue occurs when cruising in fifth around 2-3k rpm, once you accelerate to maintain speed, airflow reading is steady, 5lbs/min. 5 seconds after, it starts to fluctuate rapidly, high as 12lbs/min and low as 0.7lbs.min. Same throttle position around 8 inhg. higher inhg is ok, in boost is ok. Idling is fine.
Could the afm be done?

test the spring in your AFM..
also try cruising in 4th instead of 5th and see what happens.
I find 5th gear to be laggy.

Is the AFM perched on a funky angle or is it sitting as it was from the factory?

You can clean the inside and just maybe that will help (you might have a dirty potentiometer or something similar)or you could add an additional ground and secure the ground to the engine block.

i have already try cleaning it, also gone through the flap sweep and what on the rtek and it rise smoothly, no dead spots
visually i dont see any lose hose connection, going to smoke the intake when i have time.
