Afm?

Im having starting issues, if I hold the afm open it idles, if not it runs for a few sec. and dies, also anytime I hold the afm open I hear the small fuel rail hissing fuel, fuel leak most likely? please help!

There's three ways the fuel pump was meant to run. One of those ways is if the key is to ON and the vane in the afm is pulled aft enough by *vacuum* so that the fuel switch inside the afm *makes*. It only *makes* if the engine is running or somebody is messing around and is shoving it aft with his fingers.

Once the pump is running, the fuel passes continuously thru the fuel rails. Normal as can be. Shouild be expected as a matter of fact.

Try jumpering the yellow two socket fuel pump check connector and see if the engine will stay running. It bypasses the switch in the afm. Does the exact same thing as the switch in the afm *making*.

^ You probably have a good size vacuum leak. When I rebuilt my motor holding the flapper open a little was the only way I could keep it running. Turned out to be cracks in the LIM. The engine wasn't pulling enough air through the AFM to hold it open. Or it was just not injecting enough fuel.

I just found the screw to the pulsation dampner on the 2ndary rail completly unscrewed and continues to leak fuel.
