Advice on Standalones and Aftermarket Turbos

For a while I was dead set on selling my car. I had a buyer all lined up and a price negotiated. However, he crashed his car and lost his job and the deal fell through. And previous to this my financial situation was lousey, but I've since gotten a new job and paid off all my credit cards and saved 3 grand.

My turbo is leaking oil, I've done everything I can and everythin that was suggested to me on getting it to stop. I figure its going to need all new piping and a rebuild. Thats a few hundred bucks.

I want to go aftermarket with my turbo. I have most of the supporting mods already, including fuel pump, fmic, tid, big exhaust, lots of gauges, ..etc.

By my account I'd need the following items:
Turbo
Manifold
External Wastegate
Piping for oil lines
Probably a little rework on fmic pipes.
Griffin/Koyo/Fluidyne Radiator with better ducting
Haltech or Microtech w/ Largers injectors

I have the racing beat 3" downpipe, obviously this isnt going to line up wiht most aftermarket turbos. What did you all do about that?

What would you suggest for a standalone and a turbo that will do about 350rwhp on 93 octane pump gas around 10-15psi?

As far as your turbo setup goes, you could go with the cheap ebay stuff... as many bad reviews as I see, there are plenty of people that are completely satisfied. Take SlammedBlk7 for example, 480whp on one of the masterpower T70's... carl byck did over 500 using one of the cheapo wastegates. They are kind of a gamble, but for the price, its hard to resist trying it out.

For oil lines, www.atpturbo.com makes custom lines and can save you a lot of money as opposed to buying all AN fittings.

For your exhaust, most people have some sort of connector pipe from the turbo to the factory downpipe. Dont forget you need to tie your wastegate dump pipe into the downpipe unless you want to be loud as **** with open dump.

For a turbo, the tried and true 60-1 is probably all you need for those kind of HP figures in that boost range.

The hard part... the stand alone... this all depends on how comfortable you are tuning your own system. If you are confident you can do it yourself, get whatever you want. Some people may argue, but they all work and they are all pretty proven to be able to support high HP applications. Add wolf to your list if you can afford the cost. If you arent comfortable with tuning, or would at least like to have someone show you the ropes first, you need to find out what people in your area are using, and also what your tuner/local dyno shop are familar with, or comfortable with working on.

.96 a/r seems to be a common theme w/ that turbo. What about compressor housing a/r, i believe 60-1 is the compressor blade size? I wont buy any SS autocrap stuff. I can pick up a greddy or hks manifold for a decent price.

for now I'm stock ported, I have the original motor in the car, its an 88 but I just tipped 70k miles, and compression is great, so I think it'll last a while. But Half BP when i blow it up down the road.

And where would you recommend picking some of this stuff up? Im wary of ebay with all the knock off crap... (ie Stone Mountain racing, XS Power, etc)
