Most adustables I have seen ARE rising rate and have a nipple coming off which needs to be plumbed into vac lines. Otherwise under boost you would still be getting the same amount of fuel pressure as you were at idle....

Well at least thats what I remember when looking at AFPR's for the VR-4 I don't have enough power mods to justify this on the RX-7...... Yet!

Err sorry I didn't read the question clearly apparently:

To my understanding pro's/cons.

AFPR's let you set the BASE pressure higher/lower + being rising rate. Where as just a Rising Rate regulator (such as stock) you can't change the base pressures. It only rises in a 1:1 manor.

Which is why most people when modding up their cars will go with a AFPR. For instance my Galant with the 550cc and EVO III RS motor/Big 16G on it wont idle for crap unless the base pressure is raised. (Stock is ~37psi without the vac line attached, ~27 with.) Mine runs about 42psi without vac attached, any lower and I get some knock. (damn piston motors )

The stock regulator was being overrun with the winebro 255 fuel pump I put in that guy too... so thats why I also had to get a regulator, My AFR's were 10's all the way around.... No good action when it comes to fuel milage.

Anyways, that above was just an example I can think of using a personal experience with them.

sx-6 did the parallel setup for purpouse of not leaning out fuel rails when going with nitrous. pros so far have been pretty good gas mileage and some hp out of it (or at least from what the butt dyno says)

Here's a helpfull little tip.... check your vaccume at the FPR BEFORE you go and beat on your car... I re-routed all my Vac lines the other night and the fuel pressure gauge stayed at static pressure (i had it set at 40) all the time, until the car hit boost... then it would rise, but not fast enough... I don't know if the port i used was clogged up from years of being capped off, but it didn't appear to be bunged up..

ANYWAY... this had the effect making the car dog rich under vac and lean under boost..

I hooked a vac gauge up to the line... and nothing at idle when the boost gauge, which is hooked to another port, was reading 17 inches and so was the MAP on the hlaltech.....

Plumbed the FPR into the boost gauge line and i'm back to normal operation of the FPR.. static at 40 psi and dropps to about 32psi at idle..

One note.. I used the upper vac nipple on the rear of the UIM on an s4 car when i wasn't getting any vac...... anybody know if there's some funky design to that port???
