Add Coolant Light

My add coolant light has been coming on when the car is cold. After a couple minutes or turning left it will turn off. Im assuming this is the famous air bubble in the system, since I added coolant a few weeks ago, without reading the proper procedure first. <--- Im a dumbass :uuh:

But I also have some coolant (green) residue around the plug on the side of the radiator. I assume this is not normal, is it just not tight enough? Or is it a sign of trouble?

I thought I remember reading a post about leaking coolant, but cant find it now.

Thoughts?

To check there's no air at the top of the radiator unscrew the bleeder plug slowly until coolant dribbles out, then retighten it. Don't force it, it'll strip very easily. It doesn't need to be very tight to seal properly. Wipe away any coolant residue and check later to see it if returns.

The best way to ensure all air is bled out is to remove the filler cap (the one on the thermostat cover, not the radiator) and start the engine. Move the heater slider right over to the hot side and let the engine warm up to operating temp. If there's air in the system you'll see bubbles appearing. When the thermostat opens you'll feel the upper radiator hose start to warm up. If the bubbles have stopped and the coolant level is at the top of the filler neck, replace the cap. If it's not full, add a water/coolant mix until it is, then replace the cap.

Start this when the engine's cold obviously.
