ack! smoke/steam coming from under hood!

drove home about 80 miles from CT today, and when i got back noticed a lot of steam or smoke coming from under the hood. popped it, but couldnt find the source because it was really dark. smelled kinda funky, not a fuel or coolant smell either. oil psi/water temp read fine, too. it seemed to be coming from behind the intercooler/back of the engine somewhere.

any ideas on where to check? i dont want to drive her!

well i need more info on your car, but there are USUALLY two coolant hoses running to the back side of the throttle body, check those for leaks, everyonce in a while hoses just pop off, from being old/loose/dirty

get some light back there and check it out

i dont know if it's coolant all of a sudden blowing off. i didnt see any visible leaks with a flashlight and my coolant level is unchanged in the resevoir.

Exact same thing happened to me. Theres a 90deg hose under the throttle body that went bad for me. Be weary tho, that hose is a pain the *** to get off and on. I replaced it with a new hose and clamps and not a single drop has leaked since.

the only leak my car's had up until now has been the throttle body coolant hose as well.

it's probably that back hose, i'm in the process of replacing mine because mine recently went out. when i was cleaning up my engine i noticed a small leak in that hose, so inspect it very carefully because it might not be noticable. by the way, did your temp go up in anyway or anything?
