Ack!! I'm stuck at work...

Recently I have been having troubles with it taking longer than normal for my '88 GXL to turn over when cold...

I had no real problems getting to work today, but now I'm unable to leave...
It feels like the rotors are spinning, but the RPMs don't budge...

Any suggestions for stuff to try, while I'm still here at work....
mind you I have a lack of resources while I'm here, but wouldn't mind trying something if it could get the car running enough to get it home...

- No Compression. No Go.

if it sounds like its spinning a little TOO freely, like theres no compression, its probably due to flooding. you can fix that by pulling ur EGI fuse located in the engine bay near ur driverside strut tower, then cranking, and burning the residual fuel. after about a total of 30 seconds of cranking, putt the fuse back in, and then try starting it. if it doesnt catch on the first cranking, you could always trying flooring it while cranking. on some cars, this disables the fuel delivery...might be worth a try.

if this doesnt work, might wanna do the ATF trick,

IT'S ALIVE!!!

Actually, the first thing I tried was unflooding the car but it didn't seem to work, I left it overnight then tried again the next day and VOILA, life came back to my rotary.

I had been meaning to do the ATF treatment for a couple of weeks but haven't really had the time to let the car sit for a day, but am now definitely making plans to do it this weekend.

If its not carbon buildup what else?? leaky injector?? worn seal??
Guess I should schedule a compression test to make sure...

sounds like leaky injectors. letting it sit would let all the excess fuel evaporate.

the ATF treatment is always helpful on high mileage engines. especially if the previous owner ***** footed it around all the time, never winding it up to redline.

if u have a set of old plugs, put them in when u do the ATF trick. otherwise, youll ruin a set of perfectly good plugs. and thats hardly economical at ~$12 a pop.

but since ur car wont be flooded at the time of the ATF trick, just go ahead and run the ATF thru ur spark plug holes, and cycle it thru the engine by cranking it several times, and gettin it into the exhaust, and then let it sit. hopefully itll also break up the carbon on ur 6PI sleeves, and free them up. and come back the next day, and try to crank her up. good luck bro
