Lightbulb Accessories to get w/ coilovers.

Hey guys, want to get these Ground Control Coilovers. Going to ask to get 7k/5k spring rates for my project FC. This is going to be a summer fun car, and occasional track car.

Currently the car has stock handling components.

I want to know what accessories are a MUST BUY, and a reccomended buy with coilovers. I did a lot of searching to decide on these coilovers, but now I need to know what else needs to be paired with the coilovers, and what is reccomended. I will likely buy these accesories from Mazdatrix. As a side note, I also live in Canada.

Any help is great - thanks guys!

- Richard

you'll want a rear camber adjuster, dtss elimination kit, and might as well dive hea din and get a poly bushing kit too.

DTSS (rear steer) eliminators are a popular upgrade as well as a camber adjuster bar. Check out my website www.j-auto.net as I carry many of these parts. If you need something that's not listed, send me an e-mail or a private message and I'll be glad to help. I carry much more than is currently listed and have a lot of happy customers in Canada

What Juan said - DTSS eliminators, camber adjustment. The GC coilover kit looks awesome, please post a review when you have spent some time with it.

While you have everything apart, suggest inspecting all the suspension & steering bushings, repalce as needed. Steering rack, sway bars, etc.

i did dtss and bushing kit + front & rear wheel bearings in a weekend almost two years ago. adding coils takes no time at all, and the camber adjuster would just be put in while you have the rear subframe out. dialing everything in will take time, but the majority of the wrenching can be done in about two days.

depending on how low your car is going over stock, you may want to invest in individual camber adjusters as well, the camber link does not adjust camber perfectly equal between the 2 sides. this is usually only a problem when you drop the car a substantial amount so go with a link first and then decide if you need the individuals. MMR and AWR make those adjusters. you would want to run the link AND individuals so you will need the link anyway. it takes some of the strain off the inividuals which should be used more for fine adjustments.

Question: why eliminate the dtss? I like the way a 7 handles with them. Or is going low make the dtss handle differently or does it make it more loose in the rear?

dtss is a novelty from the factory but it does effect turn in. Mainly, an experienced driver would not be used to the way the car handles (i.e. the point of breaking traction) as opposed to most other cars. this isn't to say that you yourself can't get used to the handling and like it. The biggest pro of dtss elimination is it makes the car more predictable when cornering and if the rear end slides out, it is easier to catch it. the dtss changes rear toe under load, when the car starts sliding, that effect can wobble a bit and make the car less predictable if that makes sense.

That being said, I have heard of someone who drifts with dtss in tact (if you can call it that at over 2 decades old) and is fine with it. all in all, you don't really lose too much by eliminating it.
