Access to WaterJet Machine....What 2D metal things would be nice to have..

Well the company I am working for is moving in 2 very large waterjet machines that can cut up to 4" thick steel. I am thinking smaller things out of Aluminum. It can only cut flat sheet metal in 2D space is the only limitation. Any cool ideas for items would be greatly appreciated. These machines are used for cutting out signs mostly and operate around 40000psi so they are pretty cool things to mess with. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Header flanges would be easy to punch out a full sheet of them. Block off plates also for that matter. Problem is I dont know if I could undercut people on prices for header flanges. I will have to look to see what the materials cost. Just have to buy a set and copy them basically.

Hmmm... block off plates... or you say it can do 4" thick steel? How about a solid turbo manifold adapter based on Aaron's welded up version? I think it was like 2.5" "thick"

rx7 ragtop,

If you can post some pictures or the thread that has the pictures ill take a look at it, but I think it would me more 3D for the adapter.

I would pay good money for exhaust port flanges and T04 turbo flanges.&nbsp If you're serious about production, drop me an estimate.&nbsp I would want them either in 1/2" thick mild-steel or 321 stainless if you can do this.

We've got a water jet at work as well. Mean son of a bitch. Water and sand propelled through 4" thick metal kicks ***! We have some wallet cards that came with the machine for the operator to keep in case he ends up in the emergency room. It tells the doctors to open the patients arm up to the elbow to dig out all the sand rather than just sew him back up!

On a side note Morbius, anything thicker than sheet metal has a taper along the cut edge. They call it "Wash". It will take a while to find the correct pierce time and feed rate to keep the wash to a minimum. Also, they are loud as hell and finicky machines. See if you can talk them into putting the machine in it's own room or build an enclosure, they will thank you.
