Accelerated warm up system(aws)

Can anyone post a link to a picture of the AWS system on a 1988Turboii please? mine is not working and I want to check it out, I have searched for a picture but no luck whatsoever, when I turn the a/c on it does not raises the rpms also and the engine stalls is this a BAC valve issue?
thanks

just remove the whole AWS. It does nothing. just adds weight.

if you turn AC on and car dies, then most likely its a Idle Air control valve issue.

there is a lot of info on the site of "how to " test the IAV.

easiest is just take it out, and apply 12 v to it using jumper wire, if it "clicks" it means its "working". if it doesn't then its either stuck, or its dead.

The car stalling with the A/C on would be the bypass air control solenoid not function. Or is that what you meant by Idle Air Control valve?

Either way, you can remove the BAC to test it pretty easily. But first, make sure the electrical connector is firmly seated to the solenoid and not broken.

bypass air control and idle air control are two terms for the same system. it could also be called idle speed control. They are pulsewidth modulated valves.

This is not to be confused with the air supply valve or the accelerated warmup system. those are just on or off.

thanks for the replies, problem is I am not sure where the AWS accelerated warmup system really is located on the engine?

on the side of the engine.

look in the FSM it tells you exactly where it is. Also see the TSB on how to "remove" it completely.

Again, its a useless system, adds weight and nothing more.

BAC/IAV are the same thing.

when you try to buy a new "BAC", you might be able to find it but much easier if you just call it Idle Air control Valve.

It's my understanding that the BAC plays a role in the AWS system, does it not? Along with the AWS solenoid thats located on top of the UIM?
