ac system not working when started warm

ac system not working when started warm
basically as the title implies. I have an 87 rx7 with a turbo swap that im adjusting the idle to get to work properly.
the r12 system was professionally modified for r134. the ac works but only when i start it cold, it will stay working untill i turn the car off. heres the tricky thing, if i tried to turn the car on after that, say if its been sitting, or if the engine is still warm, i get absolutely nothing. Whats the deal?
