Hi everyone!

I recently bought an 88 rx7. The exhaust was blocked or something (it was glowing) so I cut it off at the manifold. NOW ... the car still has no power.

I can floor the throttle and there is nothing. It won't idle, and on flat or uphill climbs... it will not go above 4000 rpm. Any suggestions on what to check? I know vacuum leaks, but is there anything else that someone can think of.

I'm think maybe fuel system... maybe the throttle just needs to be adjusted?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

T2??? NA????

is there still no exhaust system hooked up???? You will loose serious torque on a NA without at least a couple feet of exhaust.

oh yeah... forgot, na.

There is no exhaust on it now.... by serious loss do you mean like down to 2 lb/ft because I can barely pull out with this thing. It seriously runs just as bad as it did before.

When in neutral... if I mash the throttle to the floor, the rpms climb pretty slow. Not a normal rev... know what I mean?

I just want to apologize for my possible dumb questions but I just started working on rotaries about 3 day ago, so please bear with me.

Compression check. IF it starts hard, runs rough, sounds like a lawnmower, and is that weak, it is usually blown. A comp. check will tell you for sure.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news,
No, no... I bought this car because it was cheap and it's a project. I'm hopping it's something complicated so I DO have pull the motor apart!

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll check everything mentioned!
