? about Check engine and revs..noob
Helo, I just got a 90gtu. The tranny and driveshaft were replaced and 2 1/2 " exhaust welded up. It was driving fine all the way to the car wash ( 2 miles). I had it there idleing for a while and when I left the check engine light came on.
It will rev normally when in neutral and first. When I was getting on the interstate and switching gears it wouldnt rev above 4k-4.5k??
when I turn the car off and on the light goes off and car drives normal again.
Also, it smells like its running quite rich and has very old gas in it. could this contribute??
I'll be changing gas, oil, etc... tomorrow. any heads up as to what ight be causing this?
thanks

How long have you had the car? Has it done this problem to you before? Did you install the tranny and exhaust yourself? Is the motor making any odd noises when you hit that 5k wall?
as much info as possible would be great

the ECU is in Limp mode, as it thinks there is a problem with the engine.
Pull the codes and fix or replace the failed part that the ECU is pulling a code on.
Limp mode limits the engine to 4000 RPM.
And bumps or TTT (To The Top) are forbidden here in the 2nd gen technical section. Please read the forum announcement found at the top of this section that say READ BEFORE POSTING before posting again.
