Uhhhhhh.......watch what you use on your aluminum wheels. Chances are, that "aluminum" isn't aluminum until you get past a clearcoat and possibly a couple of coats of paint, depending on what wheels you have. You can seriously screw them up using an agressive metalpolish.

superclean works for me. don't let it sit to long though. superclean can eat aluminum...and paint i would imagine.

If these are as you say deeply pitted then you don't have much too loose. Recently I helped my grlfriend clean up her Protoge for sale, those wheel had 13 years of brake dust, no amount of scrubing worked.

So, I used 'Eagle One - Etching Mag Cleaner' be sure to do one wheel at a time, spray it on use a stiff scrub brush to work the cleaner into the brake dust, rinse immediatly, repeat if necessary. With this method there was no damage to the clear coat. BUT, be careful, this product is corrosive!

I used some stuff called "never dull" from my store, and it did a very good job. If anybody in md/va or boston has the problem, go to chesapeake knife and tool and pick up a can (or go to www.chesapeakeknifeandtool.com :-) )

Ha, my dad just bought rims for his truck (used but in still good condition) and it took 28 SOS pads to get the brake dust off the inside, and we just used Meguiar's Hot rims to clean the outside, then took it through Mike's Carwash and now they're bling bling.
