98 RX-7 with new 13B wont start

Jarrett,
I have an '87 TII. It took me a week or so of driving to get all the air out of my system. I used the upper rad. hose to pump the coolant around to get most of the air out but it took a while before my coolant level quit dropping (a week of refilling the coolant tank whenever the level dropped a little). My car never went above 1/2 on the fac. gauge though. Keep at it....good luck.

Coolant
Yeah, the first time I drove it, the needle headed pretty close to the "H". But I shut it down, and it never made it to the top. But that made me (after reading all the archives) VERY nervous, especially since its a new motor. But the deal is (as far as I can figure), I filled up the coolant, disabled the fuel pump, and cranked the motor and got no coolant splashes/geysers (WHEW!!!!). So I figure I got lucky. Wont do that again, I can assure you. The fan clutch is shot (I think) because once its warm, you give it about 10 turns by hand and it starts freewheeling. Then, since the motor sat for about a year (give or take) with no water in it, I can only assume that one, the water pump is junk, two, there is alot of rust, dirt, animals, etc...clogging up my radiator (would you believe that there was a nest of rodents in the engine bay when I went to get the car?!?!?!?). And 3, the thermostat is probably gone or going south. Fast...
Would going with an electric fan be benificial as far as HPs and airflow? I know that in the V8 world, we like electric fans.
