My car died a few months ago while I was driving so I towed it back to my house and checked the CEL code. I got a bad OMP code so I replaced it with a known good used one and it still won't start. I de-flooded it to make sure it wasn't flooded but that didn't work. I re-checked if there were any CEL codes an there is none. Should compression and spark be checked next? What else can I check?

 

Sometimes when the omp goes itll take out the ECU as well.

 

Care to explain how that takes out the ecu before I go to the junkyard and buy one?

Yeah. You NEED to check for spark and fuel prior to chunking good money after bad. Takes but moments to do so (not chunking money, the other thing mentioned).
