91 vert top removal

hi all i found a brand new soft top for $140 on a parts car here in NC! im gonna go soon and take it out but im just curious on the fastest way for removal. its so damn hot here lol gonna try to get in and out. im only taking the top no motor or linkage since i dont need it! from what i saw just looking at mine was the bolts that connect to the body around the top and the few plastic screws on the inside that hold the headliner in place. what about the frame that the motors on? bolts behind the plastic ? didnt wanna take anything off right now any help will be appreciated!

You have to unhook the top from the motors and unbolt it all around the back. It's actually pretty easy - there's a chapter in the Factory Service Manual about removing the top.

I removed 2 of them and even swapped headliners between them.

I feel like you could benefit from having a hard copy of the FSM nearby. lol

save the bolts along the outside, they are expensive and hard to find, especially the very first one- which might break when you go to remove it

This man speaks the truth. When I scrapped the old convertible, I made sure to keep all the bolts LOL
