Lightbulb 91 turbo alternator install on 88 n/a

Hey guys, I have a reconditioned '91 t2 alternator and I have an 88 GTU, I want to upgrade my stock alternator to my new one. An excellent rx guru told I could do this but I would have to fashion a new connecter plug. I have checked this visually, that seems not to be too big a deal so, What I am asking is... Has anyone done this before? What kind of parts/wires should I get? Any advice on how to proceed and will the rest of the electrical system handle the new higher output?
Thanx to all for any input!

I'd suggest upgrading to I think it's either an 80 or 100amp (don't remember offhand) main fuse afterwards. Basically you're going to just need to create a new plug, as you were told. How you can do this without stealing it from a s5 (i think they're the same as the FD plugs too), I'm not so sure. If the black arm of the turbo alternator gets in your way, you can always unbolt the arm and move it around if required.

Piece of cake. I did it. I actually had the plug though. I just cut my plug off and spliced the wires. Also, you will need to put your little black arm bracket from your s4 on the s5 one so its positioned correctly. I saw LARGE gains in juice from the used s5 alt I put in.
