91 stock radio into an 87
91 stock radio into an 87
sorry bout this post....
i have recently had my sony xplod radio stolen out of my car so a friend hooked me up with his stock radio from his 91. well i know there has to be more than one wire going to my newly found radio... all i seem to find is one wire i think its green coming from the pass side underdash along with all the speaker wires.usually when i install a radio i see ground / power /ingnition or lumination i think those are one in the same. well i only find one described previous.
well if they ripped the wires out then how could i reroute new wires to make the radio work... if not where can i find the wires? maybe there are some hanging under the dash somewhere.... i dont know im lost when i look at my fsm so can someone please help me out? thanks a bunch... and if im not clear enough on details please tell me and i will describe things more illustratively. also what is that wire i described ? im pretty sure its green(night time and im inside so i can go check right now )
like i said thanks

nah dude... like i said i cant find the "normal" wires such as power ground type deals... only one i think green wire . i figured the 91 radio would hook up into my car seeing that i have the 91 stereo harness."clips" should i say. i figured i could install it..but all i can find are speaker wires and that one wire. sorry i cant explain it n e further or in depth because thatz really all i could find... thatz why i thought of the rerouting new wires theory. was just a theory nonetheless

well, the stock wires must have fallen down, as there is no way for them to completely disappear.
You'll have to look further and find them.
I guess you could run wires pretty easy for the front dash speakers, but you need to find the other wires.

WELL I COULD NOT FIND N E more wires except that green wire i was explaining about..... so i ran a power wire straight from the battery and a ground to a clean piece of metal under a bolt.... shouldnt that be good enough?? after power and ground i also need an illumination or whatever right? ok well if someone can explain that to me than can someone also explain to me the colors of the 91 radio clips and to which one is power/ground/illum. if u can which wires are which speakers? if u really know ur stuff... that would be great but mainly i wanted to know if my wiring could be sucessful or not.... and which wire is power and ground and illum.... on the harness clips
well im asking too much sorry ... again my fsm confuses me... thanks again

Make sure you fused the battery wire within 12-18" of the battery. You will also need a switched wire to activate the radio with the key.
And the FC radio wire colors have been posted quite a few times, you may wish to use the search function found in the upper right hand corner of the page.
And if the wiring is really confusing you may wish to take it to a professional car stereo shop.
