91 n/a door speaker maximum depth
Hey,
Looking to upgrade the door speakers on my 1991 n/a coupe. The speaker is located on the bottom of the door panel (I know the diff years and trims had diff interior panels and speaker loctions).
I know the cutout is 150mm for the speaker (its a true 6") thanks Icemark.
But what is the depth that I can go? I know the power window runs really close to there...so I would need a shallow speaker. But anyonw know the actual MAXIMUM depth I have to work with? Preferd in millimeters.
thank you much.

the window doesn't get too close to where the speaker is. i've had mine out and i would imagine you could but any 6" speaker in there as long as it's not a woofer, because woofers tend to be a little huge on the back side. but i do have manual cranking windows ... so maybe some power window stuff will get in the way but i doubt it.

We MUST be conscious of the fact that there are many different variations of speaker locations and sizes for FC's. For example - I have 4" cutouts in the rear shock towers. Others have 6" cutouts. etc, etc...
The actual cutout in the door - as per my above post - is 150mm which is called a true 6". Speakers come in many many sizes. Yes 6.5 is most common, but even amont all the so called 6.5 sized speakers you will get a ton a variation for the cutout diameter. approx 140mm to 165mm. My hole is a 160mm hole.
I need to know what the depth is. I have a crappy pair of RF coaxials in there now. I had to use 1" lift rings to make them fit. (depth wise) I did this about a year ago, when my budget was very limited and I never bothered to measure.
