of course needs a new top, just bought it about a month ago, runs good and everything, but only during a shift, the check engine light comes on and goes out when i get in the next gear.....did a little searching in the forums but found nothing on this...curious if any of you have any ideas to what it may be or have u been thru this......

nope, only when i shift gears

 

If the check engine light only comes on while the engine is under load. It means that possibly your Electronic Metering Pump is bad. Does the car hesitate while shifting? If it does, then this is your problem. Otherwise, I would suggest taking it to mazda (god forbid) and get them to pull the codes.

 

appreciate the info, i sure would hate to have to take it to the dang old dealer, for something like that..but like i said it runs real good its just annoying seeing that light each time i shift...thanx though....
