90 PSI @ 700 Miles On Mazda Reman

Just wanted someone to "comfort" me...

I've read that a rebuilt 13B can be a pain during its early miles, and have poor throttle response, no acceleration, and backfire. I've got an '87 with Haltech, correct spark & fueling, and the car is still running poorly after 700 miles. I have noticed an improvement but nothing ground-breaking.

The car idles and runs very smooth, no intake leaks, etc. The engine is a base reman with a new 60-1 and HKS manifold & wastegate. Only weird thing is, I had to lean out my Haltech maps to get it to run correctly, and my A/F gauge doesn't even read most of the time...and its wired up properly.

BTW, I'm not a noob, car hasn't seen boost or above 4K RPMs yet. It wants to boost though...

You probably wont see full compression until 2000+ miles. Stock seals are pretty hard and take a while to wear into the used housings.

You should take it easy for the first 2000 miles anyway.

ok smart ***...

MAZPOWER when i did my comp test around 300 miles i was at 85psi all around. I think i will do my next test around 2K then at 4K and see how much it improved...

My car runs smoother everytime i drive it.. It idles bad at startup till it get to around 120 degrees. After that it idles like a stock 2nd gen. See you soon man. (ss6)

when i did mine first 300kms it was at 105psi in front and 110 in rear.

now its got 1700 km (approx) and at 110 in front and 115 in the rear.

its really depends in your housings.

ditto. Also if parts were in spec and reused would affect compression I believe.
