90 N/A ignition problems! HELP!
If your answer fixes my problem, I swear I'll paypal you $6 for a 6 pack! (only the first person to get it right though)
I have a 90 convertible that I am trying to get to pass emissions. In this effort, I finally put on a Jacobs Rotary pak ignition that I had sitting for a couple of years, new plugs and wires.
The car ran fine for a while, then the tachometer started cutting out, then it would work again the next time I drove the car, but each time it would work for less time. Then the car just died while going down the road. I could crank it and it was as if I was getting no spark. I popped the hood, and all of a sudden it worked agian. (bad connection somewhere I thought, because the jar of the hood popping got it going again) I get home, search the formum, and guess that it's a bad connection on the trailing coil. I had a spare coil so I swapped it. Then on the test drive, the tach dies, then the car dies, and I cannot get it started and have to have it towed home.
Now I took of the Jacobs pack, back to the stock setup. The tachometer still doesn't work, but the car will start. It surges really bad while revving in neutral.
I have checked all the fuses in the engine compartment and kick panel and all are OK.
Any other ideas?

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
Your trailing coil is not working if your tach is not working.
I would be looking at the connections you made for the Jacobs pack.
You have removed it ? Correct???

Yes, I removed the jacobs pack. Both leading and trailing coils have ground to chassis and the connectors are connected. I have swapped out the coils as well with some I had off a parts car.
