90' Gtu Fuel Cut??? Help Needed

I'm just finally picking up the RX-7 I bought. And ran into a problem.

It's a 1990 GTU, it sat for 2 months. BEFORE it sat, it ran wonderfully ( I know the guy who owns/ed it ).

Today, when going to pick it up, it cranked fine. To avoid any problems, I let it warm up at a sit-still. Then, when I pull it out of the driveway and give it some gas, it won't go above 3500 RPM. Whenever it hits it, it's like a fuel cut. Every Gear. The fastest I got it is like 35-40. Can ANYONE tell me what causes it could be?

secondarys not opening up? front set of butterflys not opening? EGR? Carbon? I need to know pretty much everything it could be, when I go to pick it up tomorrow. Thanks!

Check exactly when it happens. The secondaries are supposed to cut in at 3700-3800rpm. If it's then, your secondaries aren't firing and the motor's trying to run on half the fuel it needs (which it won't).

Approx. 3600-3700 RPM. So, yeah I'm thinking secondaries. Could the VDI be stuck and the 6th ports not opening? or would that create this much of a problem? Also, how would I re-ground the injectors? Don't they go back to the ECU?

My thinking is, go back, Check the secondaries ( not 100% sure HOW at this point ), check the VDI ( wire open if need be ), and if it still won't go over 40MPH, tote the bitch home on a trailor and get cracking!

Nah, a hard cut like that won't be an airflow, prob, it'll be fuel or spark. My money's definitely on the secondaries. Can't help with a fix sorry, but do some searches. I've heard this discussed here before.

The injectors are probably dirty. Just clean the things, I bet the ground is fine.

I swapped cat back on my 87TII and then at the Auto-X the same thing happened. turns out it was the O2 sensor ground, which is a ground on the back of the exhaust. I replaced that and later added some more grounds to the engine, and it totally eliminated that situation.
