ok so i have did a search but no luck finding an answer. So my 89 t2 turbo will not go in to 5 at all but will go part way in to reverse with the cluch in or out when i try to let out the cluch in reverse it only grinds.It has a short throw shifter in it and i pulled the shifter off to see if there was some thing stuck where to ball goes but nothing.All the other gears work fine do i need a new trans or a rebuild please help

 

could be bad synchros, i would say you need a rebuild
