Hi this is Dustin and I have recentley swapped the 88 T2 motor out of my 7 with an 89 j-spec, and the car starts and loads with fuel, then quits. Does anyone know if switching the Upper Intake Manifolds is the answer?

What exactly did you do? Did you take the core of the 89 and swap your 88 Turbo stuff over? or you took the whole compelete engine and swapped that in?

 

I would recommend you using the core of the 89 and swap your parts over to it. I also believe the 89 has electronic oil injection as the 88 is not. I would assume you would have to change over your front cover from the 88 to the 89 core. Also, did you use the 89 injectors?
