89' Rx7 project

I have a friend who wants to sell me an 89' Fc for $650,
I thought it would be a good project car. It has a new motor in it but it doesn't run, does anyone think this is a bad or good idea?

btw the body is in good condition, no dents just a few paint chips.
Any input welcome just want to see what others think

hey that is a great price for an Fc...I bought mine for 500 with a blown engine... I got a new engine of www.car-part.com and it runs like a champ I am soon to yank the engine and send it off to get bridgeported and all of the goodies mine is n/a I picked the engine up with 92k for 800$ not a bad price... and it surprised me I never thought it would be that fast I got an intake, exhaust, and an electric fan.. and I raced my buddy in his 95 vw gti golf that pulled a 15.4 in the 1/4 I beat him through the 1/4 so thats damn good for a nearly stock n/a 7 ..peace but buy the car.....

An S5 parts car is worth way more than $650. Even if the car can not be brought back to life, you can stand to make some money on this transaction. I'd jump on it in a heart beat.

I would jump on that now.

The tail lights ALONE are worth 200+!

If the interior is in good condition.. well.. alot more.

I say buy it, and if it has a black interior... sell me the interior for my 89 GTU

BTW the engine is a jdm s5 motor, it was put in but the guy was too lazy to put everything back together.

Does anyone know how much work is ahead of me on this or how much it would cost to have someone do it for me

well if its got a turbo engine in it, blown or not, then its an even better deal.
if it was a turbo car in the first place and it just needs to be put back together then its not to much work.
if it is a NA RX7 thats in the middle of a TII swap then you might have a lot more work but it's still very worth it though.

Cheap S5 rule
