Exclamation 89 GTU troubleshooting

i have an 89 GTU .... custume intake but other than that all stock. the car starts fine...has new battery and has new charging system... but recently i doenst want to run... 126,000 miles. the car starts but if you try to run it kicks back and pulls and doenst want to accelerate... the engine revs up .....another small problem is it has a wierd idle... when the car is on, the RPMS move around and the car wants to die and fall flat on its face. if anyone has had this kind of problem you should help me out.

Could be a number of things.

Start with checking compression first..........then post results.

First address the idle problem. Take a look at this thread, NJGreenBudd's post #28 https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...26#post9000626. There's a nice summary of what you should do for a surging idle.

Once you've adjusted the mixture/airflow/TPS, see how the car reacts when you try to drive it. The TPS in particular can have an affect on many RPM/load conditions, so you may solve the acceleration problem(or at least make it better) in the process. Post details after you make the adjustments.

Check compression sounds like an apex seal. If good OHM out the BACV the TPS then refer to grounding issues with the ECU and grounding system in general.

Does it run fine when you are in nuetral with the clutch pushed in? Then does it act up when you have the car in gear? Could be a pilot bearing. Need mas info!

Why would a pilot bearing cause drive ability hesitation issues?

you can also check for codes... could be in limp mode due to a faulty OMP, but usually it would idle ok if so.
