'89 Convert. Seat Belt Light
My state legislature, having nothing better to do with their time, recently decided to make seat belts a primary violation in their unending and unwanted concern for my safety. (At least they didn't use this time to spend more of my money - I suppose I should be thankful for that.)
Since I bought the 89 Vert new, the seat belt light just comes on for a few seconds after starting, then goes off regardless of whether or not I'm wearing my seat belt.
With the new law, I would greatly prefer it if the belts light actually stayed on when I am not wearing my seat belt. (All they need is one MORE reason to pull me over.) Given the wires in the seat and seat belt latch, I assume that it may be possible to make this happen.
Are there somes wires I can connect somewhere or a switch in the CPU I can toggle to accomplish this goal? (Ideally I could get the light to remind me to put my belt on without an annoying buzzer.)
And, yes, the wires under the seats are connected.
I hate seat belt laws and helmet laws - all they do is interfere with Natural Selection.

Is it really that big of a deal? I mean if your car a sleeper with no 8" tac in the front or 8foot wing in the back...
I assume you could just wire up the bulb into the ignition.

My first '7 had similar seat belt light issues.... It just came on randomly or blinked at me occasionally.... I kind of liked it. ;-)
Anyway, after a few years I accidently found out that it was just bad solder joints in the warning light/clock unit itself.

In theory (in other words I have not tested it myself) there is a Yellow/Red wire and a Green/black wire going into the CPU that you could cut.
If you grounded that Yel/Red car side (not CPU side) the light should stay on as long as the seat belt was not latched and the key was on. Once the belt was latched or the key turned off the light should go off.
You would leave the Grn/Blk disconnected, however as that wire feeds a signal to the buzzer, and I am assuming from your post that you don't want the buzzer always going off when the light is on. If you didn't care about the buzzer and wanted it to go on the same time as the light, and then leave the Grn/Blk connected.
