'89 conv. top/headliner question

I recently bought an '89 with a convertable top. The top is in good shape but the headliner's shot. I've received several estimates. Some say $160, others say $350-$400 because they have to get the headliner from Mazda. What the "real" story? Can someone just fabricate one? Can I get the product from Mazda and install it myself? Has anyone here had any experience with this?

Thanks for the help,

mine is gone too. I am just waiting to find someone parting out and 88 vert then I will get the targa headliner. Don't go to the dealership. Everyonce in a while someone parts out a vert.

It seems to me that this is not a very durable item. If you find one that's available (being parted out) are there any special tools needed to install it? I'm worry about the glass window Keeping it waterproof etc.
