if you mean the same engine then no? sort of the same. the 93-95 is alot diff, like rotor housings, rotors, external diffs. the 89-91' fc motor is called 13bt and the 93-95's are called 13b-rew. fc motor is 200hp@flywheel, fd motor is 270? around.

but as far as differences between 87-88 and 89-91 the 89-91 is more similiar to the fd's if you had to compare all 3.

i don't really know exact diffs though, hopefully other people will chime in here

93-95 FD engine 255hp

engine is quite different than fc as said above...lighter rotors and etc...

main difference is twin turbo for FD, if u dont know about that
FC 13BT is single turbo ,has 200hp for 89-91 model
forgot the numbers for NA...
around 160-170hp

This made me think of something, has anyone put a 3rd gen motor in a 2nd gen? That'd be bad-***!

Alot of people have. My friend is ALMOST finished with it. We got the motor in his TII last week, and now we just have to finish the Haltech wiring.

Here's a good link to the differences between S4, S5, and S6 engines.

Only reason to upgrade to a 3rd gen setup in a 2nd gen is for the twin turbo setup. This basically gives you more low end torque and less turbo lag.

Personally I wouldn't do it as the cost and effort could be better applied pushing 300hp in your 2nd gen turbo.
