88SE wipers don't go to park pos.

Hi, anyone got any info on wipers that don't automatically go to park position when shut off. I always have to use the switch to jog them home when shutting them off. The FSM doesn't list non-parking as a problem and I haven't seen anything on the wiring schematics to indicate how it's accomplished.
Thanks
Gerrard

Well, since the wiper switches are always giving us problems, a good place to start would be there. PM Icemark, or, his website is listed in another related thread that was going on yesterday...

as long as all the speeds are working, you get pretty used to shutting them off at the right time

The dinky relays in the wiper switch only last 10-15 years.

You will probably be fixing or replacing the switch before long, just like the rest of us.

I bought a replacement from Icemark. It works 100% perfect and is actually build tougher than the stock ones were. Plus he'll give you a core for your old one.

I believe his store is mazdamark.com IIRC

Question still need help with wiper park problem

I need some help. When I searched, I didn't come up with anything related to whether a wiper parking problem was related to the switch or to the motor itself. Just going on experiance with other cars, I'm inclined to think it's something to do with the wiper motor. I was hoping someone else had taken care of the same problem and could provide some advice.

It is definitely the wiper relay. It is on its way out. You won't have intermediate or high speeds sooner or later. Go to Mazdamark.com and get your wiper swicth rebuilt.

I have 3 (87, 88, 89) and the wiper switches on all of them were bad. You can try to repair them yourself but if I were you I would pull it out and send it to http://mazdamark.com/ turn around forom the time I shipped mine out was only about a week. If you get a used one your probably going to have the same problem.

Wiper switch, not the motor. Common Mazda RX-7 problem. It probably exists on other Mazda cars that use the same switch/manufacturer of the switch.
