88rx7 vs. 86 300zx

hey,
I've posted this thread awhile back, but i never got a clean answer. I have a lightly modded 86 300zx n/a manual and a bone stock 88 rx7 n/a auto, and i am about to get them both running. I know the z would win off the line cuz its a manual, but if i were to race them from a role, do you know which one would win? I've searched the internet on 0-60 times for both vehicles and by those numbers the 7 would win, but i wanted to ask the pros.

If your 5/6th port actuators on your rex aren't working, you'll lose a lot of low down torque giving the advantage to the Z. The condition of your cars makes a big difference, and ultimately, what does it matter?

Well the auto FC is going to lose horribly. My '89 auto (before it was a 5 speed) lost horribly to my friends '87 Z. And his car ran like ***. Anyways i'm not shittin you an auto FC won't run lower than 18 seconds in the 1/4.

True. The slushbox seven will get worked by the Z. The only slower seven would be the heavier auto vert.

well i own a 84 Z31 and a 90 FC both NAs with higher flowing intakes and the FC will easily smoke the Z31 at every performance aspect but their both 5 speed manuals and the FC is a S5 so im really not sure about the auto S4 FC.

the Z31 is a far better daily driver around town with more torque and lower rpm torque band. it does feel like a tank compared to the Fc though

the march of 1984 Road&Track issue has the Z31 Na running the 1/4mile in 16.4@84mph which was exactlly equal to the GSL-SE FB they tested against it.

ive got boxes and boxes of car mags from the mid 60s to 2005 of Road&track,Hotrod, carcraft,Car&driver,Car Life,Motor Trend,ETC. i wish i had a scanner and highspeed internet, my dial up is as slow as a civic
