88 vert w/ idle problems(written in proper english, easy to read)

I have an 88 vert (N/A) that clearly had a vacuum leak. I could clearly hear it sucking air from the lower intake, and it ran poorly, sucked fuel, etc.

I took apart the intakes, removed old gaskets, cleaned everything up, and added new vacuum hosing to fix this.

The problem is now the car doesn't want to hold an idle. It will start very easy, when cold revs to 3k, then just slams dead. If I punch the throttle, it will idle flat, and if I continue to rev it it runs just fine. I took it around the block and it runs great., with the exception:
the car will bog (like a fuel cut)at odd rpm. It doesnt happen all the time, nor at a set rpm, it just does.

Things Ive checked:

-dinked around with tps, but never really set it. was running fine last year, and into this year till about a month ago,and it wasn't touched, so I couldn't see it having to be moved.

-idle screw-rotated about 2 turns each way to try and find a working setting, again, worked fine last year.

-Vacuum leaks- doubt it, put on new gaskets and coated everything lightly with silicone, let sit over night just to be sure it all dryed fine.

I noticed when i was removing stuff that the lead coil wires had worked themselves out, so i plugged them back in.

Anyone with a similar problem, or has fixed this on another car, answer, any help appreciated.

I would go through the idle setting procedure in the manual. It also has a troubleshooting section for the valves that control the idle, i.e. BAC and the solenoids. And set the TPS.

I found that my 88 vert stumbles at idle when warmed up. It appears to be a problem with injector leak down. After 14x,xxx miles, I guess it's time for a cleaning.

For it to bog/cut on you at random, it sounds like you have an electrical issue. Perhapse a poor contact on coil lead or fuel pump.

To eliminate vacuum as the culprit, I would hold the throttle just off idle and spray WD-40 (don't worry, it can be wiped down easily) on vacuum lines, fittings and intake seals. If the idle or RPM changes at any point during spraying, you still have a leak. Hope this helps.

Nice, sounds good, will try

I was talking to my friend(shade tree mechanic) and he said I should buy a good set of gaskets, as I made my own with gasket paper, as he said they are usually not the greatest paper to use. I figure its worth a shot.

But I will definatly use this wd-40 thing, as I have a whole box of the crud lying around.
