88 vert-major hesitation????
Ok so I owned this vert a few years ago.I bought it back from the lady I sold it to.I am thinking its been sitting for some time. When I drove off it almost felt like it was running on 1 rotor. After about 5 minutes and warming it up really good on the drive it got alot better but still no power and hesitating. This morning wow it was real bad took forever toget it warm and finaly drove better but the same thing.I changed the fuel filter but no luck.Anyone have any ideas?Could the gas have went bad but like I said gets better when completly warm but still dangerous to drive-no power at all.Sounds like someone has there hand over the exhaust.

check the port actuators to make sure they are opening the 5/6 ports.
I'm finding out slowly that the vert needs all the power it can get, being as heavy as it is.I checked the actuators on mine when I got it,they were gummy.

Check that both leading and trailing coils are firing. If it's running on the leading plugs only, you'll lose a significant amount of power.
If you have a vacuum gauge, hook it up to a manifold vacuum port and snap the throttle. If after you let go of the throttle the vacuum still tapers off (closer to 0) then you've got a plugged catalytic converter.

This is probably a long shot, however, have you checked to see if the wiring harness (engine harness) around the exhaust manifold area is in good unmelted condition? I picked up a vert last year to pull a good engine from (had owned it previously and knew it would haul pretty good) and after the motor/trans was out we realized the reason it would run great some times and other times be sluggish or bog down was because the engine harness had melted down a bit inside the loom due to a leaky PD (which happened after I sold it and prior to when I bought it back for parts).
