88 turbo swap: Shaving the molding away

So I never have liked the molding on the side of the car, I ripped it off today and started to fill it with dura glass and going to use fiber glass with top coat for the final finish. I think the molding is a eye swore and I think it will look good and clean when done. Still have a little bit of sanding left and then glass and top coat it, probably will be done tomorrow

I've seen this done before... The car looks very strange without it.. I don't think it works. But if you like the result, that's what matters

Car is going to look strange, especially if the door isn't perfectly smooth.

You should've welded a filler strip in, then used bondo to finish it. Either way, I don't care for the look.

I think the body looks bulbous without the trim lines breaking up the expanse and it looks weird that the bumper caps suddenly sprout trim lines that don't match anything.

Well, since the only pic you posted showed a rear view, I guess I was referring to the rear bumper.
Which has trim lines.
That don't go anywhere.

I think your car looks awesome man, and this isn't my first first time doing body work, I should of welded it but my welder is broken, and I have used this stuff before and it works really good, I spent a lot of time on the prep.

Some plans fail in the execution, others in the planning.....this would be a case of the latter.

you have no photos of the prep, what did you do to prep it?
the issue will be expansion and contraction, out in the sun will be the worse place for your car to be, it will be a battle against time for your bodywork not to crack along the edge.

I refused to do this for someone years ago based on this reason, he had someone else do it and just 2 years later all the moldings had already started to crack and come back.

the darker the paint, the more time out in the sun- the worst this will be.
good luck with your project, to each their own but im sorry man but in most people's eyes the car has been ruined.
