88 turbo II with 25000 ORIGINAL miles?
What could go wrong? What maintenance items would you replace immediately? Engine pulling 17.5 inches of vac at idle. The price is right this may be the one only downfall for me is Blue interior. Anyone have some closeup's of the beautiful blue?
P.S I've pulled the carfax. It checks out. bone stock.

Current items replaced. 1988 Mazda rx7 turbo 2 White with blue cloth interior 25k original miles New fuel pump New fuel filter New air filter New NGK plugs New plug wires New oil filter And more
At this point it's either the Black 1990 GTU or this T2 I'm going nuts over here and my wife wants to kill me.
So basically. Fuel lines, vac hoses, rad hoses, tires, brake hoses, How about gaskets and such?

fuel lines, you should look at, Mazda used really nice stuff, its so nice that 25 year old Mazda hose is still better than anything else you can buy new. Mazda hose is $60/foot.
vacuum lines no, they just sit there, yours will still be nice and soft.
Mazda made a really good car, i just started working on a 236k T2, and it is still wearing the original front brake rotors.

I just picked up an 88 turbo myself and the first thing I did was the fuel filter. I'm getting new suspension bushings next week with stainless brake hoses and new fluid. Got new plugs and wires. Having the complete fuel system check out in 2 weeks. All new belts the other day and the list goes on. I'm doing everything I can think of. I want to daily drive it.59K miles. Grey interior. You will learn to love the blue interior and it looks good with the white.

Congrats, that car looks fantastic. If you do the normal maintenance and it drives fine, I’d put a couple thousand miles on it and see if anything comes up. Odds are, through frequent use you’ll find what you need to fix. Squeaks, alignment, strange noises when shifting.
I’d say a car driven that little needs some miles on it to just to find what’s a foible and what’s a component that’s sat too long. Some concerns may go away with use.

That car is a true survivor!! Don't see many like that these days. I would really enjoy driving that car in its original condition. You may want to check things over before you just start replacing them. The previous owner may have put tires on the car recently or had recent repairs. Even with the low mileage, if the car has not been sitting, I wouldn't mess with much yet. You'd be surprised at how well they hold up. Give it a good look under the hood. If the car was driven here and there a lot of the car is probably just fine. You could replace parts as preventative maintenance items I suppose, but I've driven some largely original 7's and they do hold up well.

After a phone conversation with the owner last week he stated that he purchased from a local small dealer in his area. It did not run and ATF was used in the plug holes to get it started. The carfax IS clear but there is a big lapse in the timeline from when it driven last. Several years.
I am planning a trip in first week of december to look and potentially have the vehicle shipped back to FLorida.
We shall see now.

keep in mind that the car is older than carfax, so a clean one essentially means nothing. if you like PM me the vin and i'd be happy to run the warranty history in Mazda's computer
item 2, if it makes you feel better the T2 i'm working on has a mostly known history, so i KNOW it was sitting in a field with the hood off and the engine in the trunk since 2005...

I moved on from this car. Contacted the owner and told him good luck. It's a beautiful car but I picked up a very clean FC much closer to my home in here Florida. Good luck on his sale!
