88 turbo can you swap a different tps?

Depending on your engine management situation, you can use nearly anything you want. However, I'm not aware of anything that uses the plunger/roller style TPS that would be easily adaptable. If you got into an FD UIM/TB you could use a more modern style TPS which is driven directly off the throttle shaft.

^agreed. if you're contemplating this as it only reads the first 30% throttle.... i see why.
I recently converted my s4 car to all s5 electronics, but that was for california smog regulations.
I will say tuning it off of a safc reading the tps is much easier.....
But i will say, and do some research on this before judging and so you know what you're doing, you can run a safc wired to the boost pressure sensor instead of the tps, to get a tune based on load.
I did this on my s4 t2 setup with a rtek 1.8 and it worked brilliantly. People argue against it, but DSM guys did it all the time, and I had zero problems... but again, do some research if this is the reason why.
Convert to power fc, and run a s5 throttle body/tps setup. or fd setup as stated previously
