88 TII wont start
I have an 88 TII 10th ae, and I just recently did an engine swap on it. It came from an 87 Jspec FC, but I dont think that matters any. I eliminated the vacuum and emissions, and I have everything connected (to my knowledge), but the car wont do anything. It wont even crank.
I have a brand new starter and as of today, a brand new battery, and the car still does nothing. This is my first ever engine swap, so I could have forgotten something simple, but I just cant see anything thats not back connected or that should be stopping the engine from atleast turning. Could it be the ignition switch? Im totally lost, if anyone has any ideas, id really appreciate it if you could help me. Thanks

Does the ignition relay click when you turn the key?
If it does, it might be a loose connection on the starter, or a bad starter/solenoid/etc.
Checking all the battery and starter cables would be the first step.

when i turn the key nothing happens at all. I dont hear any clicks or anything. I have the clutch pedal all the way down. is it possible that maybe that switch is bad?

Since the engine won't even crank try to jump the power & ignition connections at the starter to see if it will crank the engine. For that matter, make sure you connected the ignition lead to the little spade on the starter. If by jumping the power and ignition (large power cable with little spade) you get it to spin the engine, it may be the ignition switch. If you still get nothing, I'd condemn the battery connectors (internal corrosion causing poor contact with the cables). You may need to snip off the old connectors, clean the cables and use some high quality aftermarket connectors.

I just finished using some jumper cables from the battery straight to the starter, to get it to work, and it cranked (I got a lot of leaks though, good to know). I went back and hooked up the battery terminals and I got nothing when I turned the key. Again, all the lights come on, and the fuel pump works, beeps when the door is open, but it wont crank.
I hoping its the switch behind the clutch or the ignition switch, but I dont see how it would go bad like that. It worked fine before the swap. Is it possible that the fuses under the hood are mixed up? Actually im not too confident of the order under there, and when I checked the FAQ to see the order, i think theres only a picture of the S5 order

OK, so you got it crank with power directly to the starter. Then you know your starter is fine.
Clutch switch....hmm how might I test that? perhaps joining the wires together would rule it out....
Ignition switch: Search for posts by hailers with ignition switch in the other field. He's answered MANY questions on ignition cylinder diagnosis. However I would bet $20 that if it worked before the swap, it didn't magically burn-out while sitting happily inside the car.
Check your fuses. Make sure none are burnt or loose. Check you battery connections - even though your door beeper works, that doesn't mean you battery connections are good enough to feed the starter, you're comparing a flea to a horse in terms of amperage required.
Check the FSM for wiring schematics for the starter, verify that nothing is backwards (if it is it may have caused other problems) or missing in terms of connections.
edit: bumps aren't allowed in this section.

How about..
There ignition cut relay is located near the master cylinder attached to the inner fender wall.
Perhaps you forgot to plug it in??
