Red face 88 TII Problems(10th Ani)

Well it was nice out today and i figured I'd untarp the 88 AE and give the engine a couple good revs(it's front end is completely naked due to some body damage). As I'm looking at it, I figure I'll hook up my HKS F-Con and FCD and drive it down my long driveway for the first time. I did so, got her running etc and went down the driveway, got to the bottom, neighbors staired, I laughed etc... I figured before snow hits I want to get it running mint. Here are my problems(they occured before the HKS F-CON also):

1. To start it I have to use the fuel cut switch(I'm guessing that it's a fuel cut) that the previous owner installed and turn it over in the off position, once it's about to turn over i have to turn it to the on position. It will not start just by leaving it on the ON position. Any suggestions?

2. Will not idle, I let off the gas and the rpms will just drop. Any suggestions, where in the FCM can i find how to adjust my idle?

Also driving it down and up my driveway I found out how much I love boost! Like holy ****! I can't wait till spring and get this thing on the road! Cause right now it's a $450 driveway car lol!

Yep, that'll be a fuel pump kill switch. These are usually fitted to overcome flooding problems common to these cars. The two most common causes of flooding are dirty (leaking) fuel injectors and/or low compression. The first thing you should do is get a compression test done. Unless compression's really low, removing the injectors and having them professionally cleaned should solve your problem, or at least mean only occasional need for the switch. Also make sure things like plugs and leads are in good shape, and your battery and starter motor are providing a healthy cranking speed. You should not accept having to use the switch every time you start the car. This problem is fixable!

FCM? You mean FSM (Factory Service Manual)? Try page 80 in chapter 4B, or page 47 of the Haynes manual. Also have a read of this:

Diagnosing and Correcting TurboII Idle Problems

Good luck!

I'm also only getting blue smoke from the exhaust when it's rpms are dropping(let of gas and clutch in etc). I got it to idle today after driving it some more, then it died. So it idles sometimes for short bits of time. I'm going to do a compression test soon too. Boy does it fly!

ttt, I'm guessing blue smoke is from the Marvel Mystery Oil still not out of it's system yet. Haven't run it too much since it was put in.
