88 throw out bearing on 87=vibrations?
i have an 87 tII, and after i put in a new centerforce dual friction clutch, i noticed some bad vibrations above 6000 rpm's. they were mostly transmitted through the shifter. i replaced the transmission mounts with solid ones, and then the whole car vibrated like a massage chair any time it was above 2000 rpms. so i pulled out the transmission, and what i noticed right away was the throw out bearing is slightly taller than the old one. I found the receipt, and it turns out the bearing is for an 88 rx7. it's from NAPA. the clutch splines already have a ring worn around them where the tob touches-is that normal for only 2000 miles? I started the car up again (clutch still on, transmission off), and it revved pretty smooth up to redline. so it wasn't the clutch or flywheel.
my theory:the soft tranny mounts absorbed most if the vibes before. after 6000 rpms, the little certerforce weights on the clutch splines bent the splines out so the were pressing really hard an the throw out bearing, creating enough vibration that the rubber mounts couldn't absorb it any more. with the hard mounts, i was feeling the vibes already at 2000ish because the mounts weren't absorbing anything.
so, what do you think-is my theory right, or am i even more confused than i thought?
