88 starting problems

i replaced my wires and plugs last night and since then i doesn't want to start. i can push start it, once its running it runs like a champ. no misfire at idle anymore. it takes usually a long time to crank over and i have to have it at wot.(note the choke plates are removed from previous owner and the intake and throttle body are ported and polished)
im new at the rx-7 game so any advice helps. thanks!

Can you hear the starter when you crank it? What is your battery voltage at start-up?

Does it start at all when you crank? or does it just turn over, I had trouble with my FC also, it would not start, only push start. It turns out I had bad ground wiring, and the wires needed to be cleaned up, and also my starter terminals.

well it would make a faint click when i cranked it. and the gear on the solenoid had some play, which was kinda odd. all my wires were covered in a nasty substance. so everything got cleaned when i put the used starter in. and also now i don't have to even touch the throttle when i crank it. she starts right up. but that could of also been cured with my msd wires and new plugs.
