88 rx7 turbo 2 as a daily driver?

Hey guys im hearing a lot of mixed reviews on this topic. Some people iv talked too say make sure that you have another car lined up cause something gonna happen and your car is gonna leave you on the road. SO please guys help me out a little whats your option on a turbo 2 as a Daily Driver. Btw the car is in beautiful condition and only has 59,000 original miles on it. Took the car to mazda cause it was leaking oil and they swap the motor and turbo. So car only has 800 miles on it and he has all the recites from mazda.

Assuming everything swapped in was "stock" and there are no modifications to the car, it will be fine. Not the best winter car though for the north east.

Guy that used to work at my job had a 88 tii with over 176k He bought it with roughly 60k and drove it for a very long time. He told me it never broke down on him. You just gotta keep up on your maintance, and dont abuse it while everything is cold. Also it doesnt matter what you own, one day something is gonna break like a switch or bearings or yada yada. **** happens.

I drove a 87 T2 for 3 years as a DD. Never broke down. Even after it was pushing 275hp. Preventive maintance is the key. Replace everything that might fail and you are good. Coolent hoses, fuel filter, pulsation dampner, oil cooler lines, ect.... everything. Then you are good.

Are you thinking of buying this car or do you already own it? That wasn't really clear from your post. Finding an unmolested 59,000 mile TII is very cool. Just make sure there isn't any serious rust underneath, especially in the floors. That's where Pennsylvania winters ate my FC first. This car probably hasn't been driven too much, so it should be OK.

My DD is in my sig pic. 87 TII 20,000 miles a year she gets driven.

It depends on how well the car has been maintained over it's life. As said, just replace the old wear items and routine maintenance and she should be good to go.

you took the car to mazda because it was LEAKING oil and you ended up with a new motor?

I would say it would not be a good daily for you

Mazda dealers don't work on rotaries, they send them to a lab to study their failures to help improve them and then chuck a new rotary in. so much for dealer support lol
