i might get this car, i went to see and test drive it today. The car is in excellent condition, leather, the owner told me that he got a 91 transmission, and a new exhaust system and fixed a few other things, he's selling it for 6300CAN, i think this is a bit too high, what is the market price for a 88 RX-7? i don;t know too much about the RX-7.
is this a good year for the car?
are these cars reliable, do they need a lot of maintenance?

 

I have a fully loaded 5 speed 88GXL and it is very reliable and runs great. I picked it up $2600US

There pretty reliable cars, but they will require maintenance, just because its an old car. And I'll say it again, that price is STEEP. Shop around and you'll be able to find a much better deal.

 

Where are you in Canada? take a look in the Auto Trader - you can find lots of 87s and 88s for $2 - $4 in Southern Ont.

I'm from Ottawa! A friend of mine picked up a '91GT n/a RX7 last year for 6000 from a dealership w/warranty. I would'nt go for an 88 at 6300 can. There's TONS of 2nd gens in Ottawa, check out some of the car shows around, I'm sure you'll find a nice RX7 for less money. BTW, have you ever heard of "cruise nights" on Wednesdays at the Orleans mall. Try to make it next week... I'll be there in the dark green first gen.

Uhmm. If you payed 5 g's for a GXL out here, I would deem you insane! I think RX-7's are harder to find and more expensive in BC. Here for $5000 you could buy a perfect '87 TurboII.

yea i know its really hard to find them here
and i live over on vancouver island and there isnt too much of them
i think there is about 5 or so in my town
2 V8 rx7's and a turbo and mine and some other kids that looks the same as mine
