Unhappy 88 runs fine, until lights are on. Then it hesitates.

Whenever my headlights are on, my car hesitates. Anybody know why?

I've had this problem since I got the 7. When it would rain, the 7 would stall/hesitate while driving. It would also do this at night when it was a bit chilly outside. Everyday that it was hot/sunny it never did it. Then the other day I turned on my lights just to have them on, and I noticed it hesitated. So I started to mess around and turn them on and off while accelerating. Sure enough that's what caused the hesitation all along. I just never noticed it was the lights. 'Hence dark out or rainy'.

your alternator is probably about to be dead.

I had the same problem last year. Changed out the alternator and it fixed it.

Yep I would stick a multimeter on the alternator to be sure but it seems to be your problem

Ok. I will try it asap.

Does anybody know what other alternators will fit a 88 NA 7? Just in case I can't afford a new 7 alt.?

checking the charging system should be done immediately, before you suspect other parts
