Hey you might check your compression if that is good then you might check if your getting fuel.

It sounds like it is flooded. Try going through the unflooding procedure (Pull egi fuse and crank with gas pedal down, then plug in egi fuse while cranking.) Alternatively, you could pull start it. The new battery sometimes fixes it (but you already tried that.)

It sounds flooded to me also. Check your plugs, they will probably be soaked with fuel...

try holding down the gas to the floor or pumping the gas pedal when you are cranking it up, this will help it to start up also if u have not done this in your previous attempts

Pull the spark plugs, pull the EGI Comp. fuse (The closest fuse to the engine) and crank the car over for a few seconds with your foot to the floor. Take a cap full of oil and put it in the two lower spark plug holes (Capful each) and put the (cleaned) spark plugs back in. Put the fuse back in, get in, and try to start the car as you normally would. If that doesn't work, and this may sound stupid and pointless to some people, open up that screw on the top of your throttle body a few turns and try again. It's worked before...

When was the last time it ran? If it was turned off right away after starting it it could have curled seals.

Pull the top plugs put 1 table spoon of automatic trans fluid in each rotor!
Make sure your battery has a full charge or you might hook up some jumper cables. Crank away should fire right up!!!! Hopefully

I bought an 88 N/A for $300 bucks. Guy pulled it in his garage to go on vacation. When he came back it wouldn't start He took it to a local shop and they told him it needed a new engine. I asked him about it for a parts car and he said $300 firm. I told him I could get it running But he had it on paper that it needed a new engine I did the atf trick then pulled around in front of his work(car was located behind his tint shop) His jaw dropped and I said goodbye! He's a nice guy!!! I felt bad for him But when I tached it up the street I smiled

well i havent really tried much... biggest problem.... its out of gas. second problem.... no money to put gas in it! //wrist. anyhooz we did check the plugs and they were soaked... while they were out, we checked compression(teh getto way, without a compression tester) pretty sure that the cars getting fuel cause the fuel rail is filling up, not so sure the injectors are working. still pretty much just cranks. never tried adding atf or oil to the housings. will try asap tho. thanks for all the input!

No habla Swahili.......it amuses me to no end what kids these days use for words, such as "prolly" instead of "probably" and my all-time favorite, "ummm" which never was a word to begin with. Were they fast asleep in English class?......ok.....sorry......I'll step down from my soap box. Although it looks like he removed his computer and added oil.

In keeping with proper grammar and sentence structure, (for those of you whom it may concern :p) I tried as Acenanugal suggested. To no avail, I keep searching for that magical answer. The beast is, however, beginning to attempt to start. She sputters now like she wants to start but doesnt have enough of something. So im thinking that shes just thirsty. On the other hand, my baby is in need of some transmission work. Is there anyone that is especially knowledgeable with transmissions? I've heard that my problem is an easy fix; just locked out of 5th & reverse, like there's a fork thats bent out of place. Any help is much appreciated and thanks for all your responses!

oooo whoever told you rebuilding your transmission was "easy" should be shot -- definantly false - your better off going the route i went - buying a used tranny that was in ok shape to replace my broken one --

all I have to say is flooding or grounds.

Check your grounds make sure the contact points are touching well to the frame.
Do this once you get the car started. go to a gas station and buy some injector cleaner dump it in and fill up. Take the car for a spin on the freeway basicilly joy ride up and down town. By a quarter of a tank that should fix the leaking injectors. a quick fix with the fuel injector cleaner. worse case scenario is that you have to replace the injectors. Also when you are about to turn off your engine rev up to 3k and hold it for a sec. and turn off the car at 3k this will stop the injectors from leaking
but this will work, but gets annoying.
